The Maun Motors story goes back over 40 years, to 1972, when a young Mr. Derek Kennedy started up a small vehicle repairs business, offering mechanical and bodywork services. Things took off quite well, and within 3 months, the business had moved to a small rented yard on Chatsworth Street, Huthwaite, with a car pitch able to hold 6 vehicles outside.
As the business consolidated itself, Derek decided to branch out into vehicle hire. This decision was originally brought about as a service for customers who required a vehicle whilst their own was off the road. As more requests for a temporary hire vehicle were received, it became essential to serve customer requirements. With just a few vehicles, consisting of cars and light commercials, the original hire fleet was a humble one compared to Maun Motors' current range; but in 1982, an 'autumn gold' coloured 'X' registered transit became the first brand new vehicle to join the Maun Motors Self Drive fleet. |
